Product Description:

Are you SICK of the default colors your spiffy new color H/PC or Palm-size PC is using? The 'Display Colors' control panel applet is FINALLY here! Using this applet you can modify the appearance of your desktop by changing the colors for various screen elements! This application was co-developed by Grundle Software (www.grundlesoftware.com) and Xoanan Industries (www.xoanan.com).

NOTE: Unregistered versions of this applet will only allow you to update the colors in the preview window.

NOTICE TO COLOR PALM-SIZE PC OWNERS: The version of Windows CE that the current color Palm-size PCs run does NOT properly display the changed system colors for the following items:

  Desktop
  Start Button Face
  System Tray

Also, in order for the color changes to take affect on color Palm-size PC devices, you need to perform a 'soft' reset on the device.

Most Palm-size PC devices have a small reset button you can push with the stylus on the back of the device. If not, refer to the documentation for your specific device for information on performing a 'soft' reset.

NOTICE TO COMPAQ 2015C OWNERS: It has been reported that the Compaq 2015c devices restore the default system colors each time the device is turned off. For this reason, Display Colors Applet will allow you to change the device colors, but the selected colors will be lost when you turn off the device. This is a problem specific to the Compaq device only.

As of version 2.0 build 1 we have come up with a workaround for the Compaq devices as follows:

Display Colors Applet now saves any custom color schemes that you create and save in the Display Colors Applet to the folder:

\My Documents\Color Schemes\SchemeName.dca

where "SchemeName" is the name you gave the color scheme when you saved it.

Display Colors Applet is now associated in the Windows CE shell with color scheme files (*.dca). This being the case, you can now simply double-tap a color scheme file and the color scheme will be loaded on your device. You can create a short-cut to your favorite color scheme file(s) on the desktop (or wherever you want) and quickly change the color scheme you are using by double-tapping the color scheme file!

While this doesn't solve the problem with the Compaq devices losing the color settings when powered off, it makes it MUCH easier to restore those settings the next time you turn the device on.

Version 2.5 build 1 (January 25, 2000)

Fixed a bug that was causing the scrollbars to always be displayed in black when using an color scheme other than the default color scheme.
Fixed several small dialog display problems.

Version 2.0 build 9 (June 1, 1999)

Added color Palm-size PC Notes dialog when the colors are set. This dialog informs the user of the currently limitations for color Palm-size PC devices (see the NOTICE TO COLOR PALM-SIZE PC USERS section above).
Also, fixed a bug that was causing the 'Default' colors to not be restored correctly on some devices Palm-size PC devices. Now choosing the 'Default' color scheme on those devices will restore the REAL default color scheme.
